First thing to understand: the Caminito is linear and one-way — you enter at the north (Ardales) and exit at the south (El Chorro, Álora). A shuttle bus (€2.50) connects both ends. Where you park or which station you use depends on that detail.

From Málaga city it's about 59 km (≈50 minutes) to the northern end (Ardales), per the official website. The classic plan: park at the north (parking €2), walk the route, and return to your car on the shuttle bus from El Chorro. Yes: the Caminito has its own train station — "El Chorro-Caminito del Rey" (Álora), at the southern end. Renfe serves it with its Málaga–El Chorro Proximity services and regional trains. On arrival, the shuttle bus takes you up to the northern entrance to start walking, and you finish right back near the station. It's the most elegant car-free option.
Important: frequencies are limited and seasonal — check outbound and return times at renfe.com before booking your slot, and match them to your entry time (remember: 30 min early arrival required).
