Getting there (and the car problem)
The route is linear and one-way: you enter from the north, at Ardales, and come out at the south end, in El Chorro. That is the catch almost nobody mentions — if you drive, your car ends up about 8 km from where you finish.
There are three ways around it: by train to El Chorro-Caminito del Rey station, by car from Málaga (about 59 km, 50 minutes) combined with the shuttle bus, or on a day trip, which picks you up and brings you back.

What you will find
About 7.7 km in total and 3 to 4 hours, of which only 2.9 km are the famous boardwalks: the rest are approach tracks. The walkways run about 100 metres above the river and in many stretches pass literally over the original 1905 path, still visible beneath your feet.
You do not need to be fit — there is barely any climbing — but there is a minimum age of 8, closed shoes are required and severe vertigo is a problem: one stretch has a glass floor.
